Biography

Dr. Cristina M. Muntean received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics (1980) and the Specialization in Nuclear Physics (1981) from Babeş-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania). She has completed her Ph.D. at Babeş-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) with specialization in Atomic and Molecular Physics. Since 1983 she is working at the National Institute for Research and Development of Isotopic and Molecular Technologies (NIRDIMT), Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Her present position in this institute is Senior Researcher grade I. Also Dr. Muntean is a member of the Scientific Council of NIRDIMT, Cluj-Napoca since 2008. She was a visiting scientist at the University of Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands, University Paris Nord-13, Paris, France, Max Delbruck Center for Molecular Medicine, Berlin-Buch, Germany, ISAS - Institute for Analytical Sciences, Dortmund, Germany and University of Osnabrück, Osnabrück, Germany. Her research interests focus on DNA structure and dynamics as probed with ultrasensitive and classic vibrational spectroscopy. Since 1985, Dr. Cristina M. Muntean is the principal investigator of independent research projects.
